Just like in any other online stores, Amazon.com accepts major credit and debit cards. You can use any credit and debit card that bears the MasterCard, and Visa. Amazon also accepts EuroCard, Discover Network, American Express, JCB, Diner’s Club, and China UnionPay.

So, most credit cards issued by Banco De Oro (BDO), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), and MetroBank may be used when paying Amazon.

Does Amazon.com accept cash-on-delivery? No, Amazon, unlike Lazada, does not accept cash on delivery. In fact, it does not accept cash at all.

Does Amazon accept PayPal? While PayPal is becoming popular in the Philippines, Amazon still does not accept PayPal as payment method.

Similarly, Amazon does not accept GCash or any other cashless payment methods developed by local companies.

Shipping Rates & Transit Times

Now that you know how to search products available for International Shipping and you know that you can pay Amazon, your next concern must be about the delivery fees and transit time to the Philippines.

When ordering at Amazon, make sure the combined price of the item and delivery fees is considerably lesser than the price of the item when you buy it locally.

Amazon offers three shipping options to the Philippines, that is, (1) Standard, (2) Expedited, and (3) Priority Courier Shipping.

The fees and transit time depends on your preferred shipping option, the category of the product and in certain cases, the weight of the product.

A. STANDARD SHIPPING

The cheapest among all shipping methods is the “Standard Shipping“. However, this is only available for a limited class of products, which does not include Kindle Devices. Also, the shipping time ranges from 9 to 12 days. Shipping Rates starts at $7.98 (~P425.00).

B. EXPEDITED SHIPPING

If you want a faster shipping option and willing to pay a little more for it, then “Expedited Shipping” is the right one for you. Within 5 to 10 days, your orders will be delivered next to your doorstep. Shipping rates for Kindle Devices starts at $11.98 (~P639.00). For other products, the rate starts at $17.48 (~P932.00).

C. PRIORITY COURIER SHIPPING

If you are in urgent need of your purchases at Amazon and you have extra money to pay for higher shipping fees, then, choose Priority Courier Shipping. The transit time for this option ranges from 3 to 5 days only. Shipping a Kindle Device will cost you $20.98 (~P1,119.00). For the rest, shipping rates starts at $33.98 (~P1,812.00).

*All rates above were calculated based on the displayed shipping rates as of August 26, 2018. Exchange rates are estimated on the USD to PHP rates as displayed on XE.com on the same date.

5 Tips for Amazon Philippines Shopping

TIP # 1. Are there any other fees that Amazon will collect if I buy from them?

Yes. Aside from the price of the product and shipping fee, Amazon will also collect Import Fee Deposit.

Before you check out, Amazon will already calculate all the fees that you have to pay, including the import fee deposit.

Shopping from an overseas online store is equivalent to importing an item to the Philippines. Thus, customs and import fees will apply.

Luckily, if the value of your item and shipping fee does not exceed P10,000.00, no import fee will be charged. Otherwise, Amazon will calculate the importation fee for you, and Amazon will be the one to take care of the clearances need.

You need not worry, just wait for your items to arrive. Amazon will do the paper works without causing hassle to you.

Note also that these fees may not be the exact fees that the Customs Office will collect. If the fees actually charged is lower than the Import Fee Deposit, Amazon will issue a refund of the excess. If it’s the other way around, Amazon will charge the deficiency.

TIP # 2. Can I buy Kindle at Amazon.com from the Philippines?

Yes. Amazon has international versions of Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Voyage, Kindle Oasis, the basic Kindle, and Kindle Fire devices. Amazon will let you order from its website and they will ship it directly to your address in the Philippines. Click here for more details.

TIP # 3. Can I claim warranties on products I bought from Amazon?

Generally, it is the manufacturer who should honor the warranties attached to the product you bought. You should check the warranty card for specific details.

For Kindle Devices, they are generally covered by a one-year limited warranty subject to the terms and conditions. For more details, click here.

TIP # 4. Why did Amazon decline my credit card?

First, make sure that you are using a MasterCard or Visa.

Second, when entering your name and billing address in your payment method, make sure that it is the name as appearing on your card and the same billing address as appearing in your card statement.

When my Amazon account was new, I had to go through their address verification process. If you were asked to do the same, just follow their procedures and you’ll be good to go.

Third, of course your credit card number and CVV should also be correct.

If everything is fine and in order but your still having issues with your payment, try contacting Amazon’s customer service or your issuing bank.

TIP # 5. Who will process my customs clearance?

As soon as your order is placed, you will not be required to do anything except to wait for your package to reach your doorstep.

Amazon, and its shipping partners, will handle all the shipping and customs processing. In the Philippines, it is DHL that usually handle the work. So, don’t be surprised if a DHL agent will call or email you about a package.

WRAP UP: Amazon Philippines

Having an Amazon Philippines is a nice idea. But Amazon.com, being the largest online store in the world, is already beneficial to Filipinos who wish to order some of products that are not available at SM or Lazada.

The Amazon Global Store is indeed a welcome development to the growing online shopping population of the Philippines. The cheaper prices, not only as compared to local retailers but also to other online stores, make Amazon a great online shopping option.

Any MasterCard or Visa Credit or Debit card is accepted. However, due to credit card fraud issues, Amazon is strict on approving payment. Either contact amzon or your bank to get approved.
